Worth a portal trip, whichever town you chose
The three towns are a minute apart: walk to the granite portal outside your town, and in Lotor's Summer Palace take the portal of the town you want (see Travel). These are the quests of the other towns worth that trip. As far as any source says, none of them asks you to be aligned with the town; we have only tried this ourselves in Whisperdale.
| Level | Town | Quest | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | Whisperdale | Loyal | The Totem of the Wolf Pup, if you left Valinor without it. Level 6 creatures, a short walk from the portal |

| 8 to 11 | Krog | Formidable Formicidae | 40 level 8 ants for one of the larger experience rewards of the early game |
| 8 to 12 | Silvest | Spice It Up | No fighting; it opens the Tackle Box in Whisperdale |
| 8 to 12 | Silvest | Put Them Down, Nest of Pests | 3,500 gold for level 6 and 8 creatures |
| 10 to 14 | Krog | Great Disrepair | A second 16-slot knapsack |
| 10 to 12 | Silvest | Something's Bugging Sozal | A ring with +1 to everything and no requirement |
| 10 to 14 | Whisperdale | Astari Supplies | +3 Dex +3 Con at level 7 (if it is open to you) |
| 9 to 12 | Krog | Sting Operation, to its second part | 30 Potions of Greater Healing |
| 12 to 15 | Whisperdale | Noisy Neighbors | A level 15 chest piece without a fight |

| 22 to 26 | Whisperdale | Termigon Armor | Gloves with +3 to everything and +15 health, no requirement |
What to wear from level 8 to 25
Put together from the rewards above. The patron's pieces come on top as your coins allow; they have no level requirement and beat most of this in your main attribute, but these give you something in every slot long before you can afford the set.
| Slot | From Valinor | Level 8 to 15 | Level 15 to 25 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Head | Helm of the Island Guard (+1 Str) | Hard Leather Cap (Krog; +2 Str +1 Dex +2 Con, level 10) | Shadow Helm (Krog; +2 all) or Dunaga's Cap (Krog; +2 all, +30 health) |
| Neck | Frump's Amulet (+1 all, +5 health) | the patron's Necklace | Warg Eye Amulet (Whisperdale; +2 all, level 20) |
| Cloak | Zombie Skin Cloak (+1 all) | Shadow Cloak (Krog; +2 all) | |
| Chest | Triddle Shell Armor (+1 Con) | Worn Guard Halfplate (Whisperdale; level 15), then the chest of your own set at 20 | |
| Hands | Fire Ant Leg Bracer (Krog; +1 Con, level 8) | Shadow Gloves (Krog; +1 all), then Termigon Battle Mittens (Whisperdale; +3 all, +15 health) | |
| Waist | Supply Runner's Belt | Sash of the Astari Guard (Whisperdale; +3 Dex +3 Con, level 7) | the patron's Belt |
| Legs | Spider Silk Leggings (+1 Int, +25 health) | Naturalist Greaves (Krog; mages) | Shadow Leggings (Krog; +2 all) |
| Feet | Marsh Soaked Boots (+2 Dex +2 Con) | Jenkin's Boots with a friend (Tides of Fate); the patron's Boots, or the boots of your own set at 20 | |
| Ring | Ring of Sozal (Silvest; +1 all, +10 health) | the patron's Ring | |
| Off hand | Lamp of Isos (Krog; +5 Soul) | the patron's Guardian |
"Your own set" is the Orcish Warrior set in Krog, the Clockwork set in Silvest, the Night Elf Archer set in Whisperdale. All three are worn from level 20.
Three good rewards compete for places already taken above. The Gemstone of Dalvon (+3 Str, Int, Dex) and the Eastwatch Holy Relic (+4 Int +5 Con), both from Silvest, are amulets, and Krog's Bloody Rag of Rumpda (+3 Con +50 health, level 15) is a ring. Slots are as AE Database lists them. It does not list the Sash of the Astari Guard, and the game's data only calls it "worn", so the waist is our reading of its name.
Jenkin's Boots around level 20
At about level 20, take a friend to Roycroft for Strange Behavior if you own Tides of Fate. You will fight level 25 Goblin Pirates, then solve an investigation in town. The boots give +8 Str +8 Dex +5 Int +5 Con +25 health, armor 26, and resistance to Blunt (7%), Nature (7%) and Disease (10%), with no level or orb requirement. That is a substantial upgrade from the Valinor boots for every build. AE Database lists the full item stats.
| Quest | Level | Starts with | Goal | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strange BehaviorWiki | About 20 with a friend; Goblin Pirates are 25 | Crocker, basement of the guard house on Roycroft's west side | Find a shoe on the pirates, then prove who is behind the attacks | Jenkin's Boots, wearable immediately |

Before leaving. Bring your friend, healing supplies and a boat. The free raft comes from the Tides of Fate Raft Offer man in Lotor's Summer Palace (792,593). Follow the sailing route to Roycroft and bind at its spawn gate. The Valmond route also needs Talazar's Revenge; the alternative dock route is described there. You can do this boots quest before the Trading Mercenary's level 40 requirement.
Solve Strange Behavior
- Talk to Crocker twice. Beneath the western guard house, hear about the attacks, then ask again for the left-leg clue.
- Find the right shoe. Leave through the north-west entrance and hunt Goblin Pirates north of town. Hunt until your own chat reports a right boot marked Jenkins.
- Question Jenkins. Visit the western armor shop. Say you have a shoe and a problem, choose the goblin topic, then accuse him of cooperating with them.
- Speak to Constable Hubert. Find him above the southern archway. Ask about Jenkins and the goblins; follow the dialogue about his daughter, then caring about his job, until he asks for evidence.
- Return to Jenkins. Ask for the matching shoe. He claims the goblins stole only his left shoes.
- Report to Hubert. Explain the contradiction: you recovered a right shoe. Finish the conversation resolving Crocker's case and receive the boots.
If a conversation stalls, speak again and follow the topics above. Early stages advance through dialogue. The wiki walkthrough gives this route through the case.
Where to hunt. The Goblin Pirate camp is north of Roycroft, around 2378,2272. Let your friend handle the dangerous pulls while you watch for the shoe discovery. If the Warehouse Foreman has already sent you to kill 100 Goblin Pirates for Half Empty or Half Full?, work on that stage at the same camp while searching for the shoe.
